Summary of Information Provided by the Assistant City Manager of Granbury Regarding Water and Wastewater Service
Bottom line: The proposed CCN changes have no practical effect on The Peninsula or its residents.
Residents of The Peninsula have recently received a notification in the mail from the City of Granbury regarding proposed changes to the City's water and wastewater service areas. The City of Granbury was required by state law to send this notification to affected property owners.
The City is updating its Certificates of Convenience and Necessity (CCNs). A CCN is an authorization issued by the Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUCT) that establishes the geographic area in which a utility provider is authorized to provide service.
According to information provided by the Assistant City Manager:
• Water Service: The Peninsula is not served under the City's current CCN and will not be included in the new CCN because the community has its own water supply.
• Wastewater Service: The Peninsula is currently included in the City's wastewater CCN. Under the proposed changes, it will be removed from that CCN because all properties either have, or will have, individual septic systems.
These changes simply update the City's service area records and do not change the way water or wastewater service is provided to properties within The Peninsula.
