The Peninsula on Lake Granbury – Final Trash Service Update
05/21/2025
Gary Olsen & Terry Lambert met with Waste Connections (WC) on May 19, 2025, to get clarification and ask questions about their Official Memorandum.
Waste Connections
Based on this visit the following bullet points will lay out what members can expect from WC.
- The cost for those members that use WC trash service will be $24.50 for one cart PLUS disposal/environmental fees, fuel surcharges and taxes thru 5/31/2026.
- Extra Carts will cost $12.00 per each extra cart required by those members who need more than one cart. Plus disposal/environmental fees, fuel surcharges and taxes will apply. The $12.00 price per each additional cart is also good thru 5/31/2026.
- All customers of WC will get these prices. There is no minimum number of customers required to use their service to get these prices thru 5/31/2026.
- There is not a price freeze for 5 years. The 5 years refers to the life of this Official Memorandum with WC.
- After 5/31/2026 the $24.50 price and the $12.00 price per each extra cart will be adjusted per their CPI calculations. Their CPI adjustment is based on the trash service industry. This CPI is higher than the general CPI we all hear from news outlets. This explains why increases from WC have been more than the national CPI percentage. (2024 compared to 2025 WC increased 17.7%).
- There will always be a fuel surcharge. This amount fluctuates thru out the year.
- Disposal/Environmental Fees are subject to change based on the amount landfills charge WC. The TECQ has control environmental fees charged.
- We asked if WC could provide us with firm price after all fees, surcharges & taxes for their trash service for 2025 and 2026. They were unable to provide us with these figures because of the variables involved. We cannot tell you what your bottom line total cost will be.
- WC will pick-up two (2) bags of trash that is outside of your cart. These bags are not leaf bags. They charge for larger leaf bags. It sounds like WC is referring to kitchen size trash bags. We are attaching WC bulk pick up item list. If you have an item not on this list call WC for a price.
- During our visit WC has offered to bring out one (1) 30 yard roll off container biannually at no charge. This could be used as neighborhood cleanup/bulk pick up. If one container gets full WC will pick that one up and bring out a second container for $575.00 per extra container if we request and set it up. The BOD feels that the HOA can pay this extra container if needed. This price is good thru 5/31/2026. After that this price will be subject to their CPI increase from 6/1/2026 and beyond thru 5/31/2030 which is the end of this Official Memorandum. WC will not haul off any liquids, flammable or hazardous chemicals, tires, paints or batteries.
- WC will offer a 5% discount to military/veterans off the cost of the cart(s).
- WC has not canceled anyone’s pickup that did not request it.
- WC does not pay rebates to franchised organizations. That means they have an exclusive contract with the HOA and the homeowners pay the HOA for the service. Then the HOA would pay WC. Bentwater does have an exclusive contract and the homeowners pay trash on their Water Bill.
Parker Waste Service
- One 96-gallon cart is $33.00 per month plus taxes.
- Additional Carts are $12.00 per month plus taxes.
- No other additional fees or surcharges.
- Prices are locked in for 24 months.
- Bulk Item Pick-Up is available on a case-by-case basis. Call or text for a quote. Some items will be considered part of your monthly overage allowance (see next bullet point). These items would be picked up at no extra cost.
- Overage Allowance-Each resident will have a 1 cubic yard (equal to about two(2) extra carts) of additional compactable household trash per month, if needed. Place this out with your cart throughout the month, and they will pick it up.
The BOD has completed its inquiries for trash collection services. We feel that we have narrowed the choices down to the two best providers for the TPOLG.
We leave it up to each member/residence to choose a company that fits their needs. Remember members can change their trash service at any time if they feel it necessary to make a change.
We appreciate your patience, input, and understanding as we work to resolve this matter in the best interest of our neighborhood.
Sincerely,
Gary Olsen
President, TPOLG Board
