March 12, 2020

Greetings fellow Community members:

During the annual HOA meeting in January 2020, several concerns were voiced regarding speeding and distracted driving throughout the community. Specifically, the speeds on Yucatan between Delmarva Ct and Scandinavian Ct. As a result of those concerns, a Traffic Workgroup was formed under the direction of the HOA Board of Directors (BOD) to:

  • Identify and assess the traffic-related issues in the Community;
  • Research and identify solutions; and,
  • Present their findings to the BOD.

It was ultimately determined that the most cost-effective and efficient course of action was to post additional signs along Yucatan that ask drivers to follow the speed limit and to drive with due regard for safety.

Although two of the new signs suggest a 25 MPH speed limit, the acceptable (maximum) speed in the Community remains at 30 MPH. The new yellow and black signs reflect a “suggested” speed along a specific part of Yucatan and are not regulatory. We hope the addition of the new signs will reduce and/or eliminate speeding along Yucatan and promote safe driving throughout the Community.

If you have any questions and/or concerns, please feel free to reach out to any Board member. Additionally, please contact the Board or the ARC to report any traffic safety-related issues or concerns.

Always working to serve you,
The Peninsula on Lake Granbury, Board of Directors
